Alex de Renzy (FEMMES DE SADE, PRETTY PEACHES) was one of the greatest directors of adult films ever, his career starting in the late 60's and preceeding well into the 90's. So saying that BABY FACE, stands as his crowning achievement is no small praise. This ranks as one skinflick that truly has it all, a complete storyline, fine production, and a couple of decent acting performances and some of the hottest sex scenes ever assembled in a single movie.
Big, lumbering Dan Roberts stars as the hapless construction worker who has to go into hiding following his seduction of underage but willing Priscilla (Lyn Cuddles Malone) which incurs the wrath of her religious fanatic of a man. After a near-fatal accident leaves him unconsciously drifting in the bay, he is saved by fan favorites Amber Hunt (FIONA ON FIRE) and Linda Wong (SWEET CAKES) who clean him up and then some. Hunt comes up with the brilliant idea of taking him to the Training Camp, a brothel catering exclusively for rich women and run by her aunt, affectionately referred to as the Champ.
This fancy cathouse provides the perfect backdrop for the movie's myriad sexual situations, nearly all of them handled with great style and enthusiasm by cast and filmmaker alike, shot through with a wickedly subversive humor. Standout scenes include gentle giant Roberts tender initiation of the eager Malone, their contrast in size providing an instant thrill all by itself, and the late great Kristine Heller taking on pretty much all the guys present in what has to stand as the single greatest gang bang sequence ever committed to film or video.

歌舞片我着重看舞蹈和音乐。这个片子里不少音乐的旋律对我来说不够悦耳，锵锵锵的锤得太厉害了，很多音符和音符之间的衔接听着不顺畅，是不是跟乐器的选择有关呢？有几首歌还是可以。故事本身难以信服……看老版也是同样感觉。大概本身故事不甚丰满，必须靠表演出位。
翻拍嘛，情节的事就不归导演管了
罗密欧与朱丽叶中“错手杀死”变成了“怒火寻仇”，让之后的发展变得难以接受，男女主的演绎也让人错乱。场景很美，镜头也很美，但是这个故事在这版演绎下一塌糊涂。
Literally WTF. Ridiculous storyline… Ansel Elgort’s performance… and the gangsters in the 60s sashayed like they were Mama Ru’s children? But also, such great supportive acting, dance numbers, and production design. Alas, a long sigh.

而片中波多黎各移民对于彼时生活在美国多好多好的歌颂，也早已经早已经过了时，现在恐怕再也没人能把那些唱词夸的出口了。
6.0/10 作为歌舞片相比老版肯定是更“好看”了，观赏性更佳，也更符合当下的主流审美。但工业技术还是完全占据了上风，它依托的是工业化程度，是工业合作体系之下运作的一个循环系统，调度井然有序却不含有作者意识，虽然这么说并不公平，毕竟老斯从来都是最顶尖的匠人导演，是一位电影工匠，而非电影作者。老斯的每部电影都有最优质的工业水准保驾护航，可往往技术才是可复制的，它作为商业片确实各项技术指标都达到了，但我看不到任何可遇见的灵光乍现的时刻。btw: 这光晕用的已经多到污染视觉了，不至于是被JJ影响的吧… 2021.12.13号@BFI IMAX
Wow I guess I really don't like musicals. Why can't they be less stage-y and more dramatic like Chicago? Also there's nothing more dangerous and stupid at the same time than a gang of young men who think they are cool and serious and all they end up being are violent douchebags.
你永远可以相信斯皮尔伯格，真的太神了！尽管老派的帮派对峙和罗密欧与朱丽叶式的爱情故事放在当代确实有点傻楞，但真的每一场戏都令人叹为观止。可以被列入教科书级别的摄影、场面调度、灯光，每一幕结束都想鼓掌的程度，冲着硬件五星了，这就是好莱坞电影工业制作的天花板吧。有把舞台剧改编成电影形式发挥到极致了，是电影的魔法！好爱嫂子。（唯一不足的可能是演员们的声音素质，一开始还以为男二才是男主..以及能不能照顾一下不会西语的观众朋友们
75/100 比《头号玩家》好，太多（吊臂）运动镜头、出彩的群戏设计，类型优势展现出比《甘草披萨》里更强大的动能。戏剧特性毋庸置疑，视觉上可能是最近几部最丰富的，许多场景几乎是表现主义和印象主义的，对光源的控制如魔术一般，被吃掉一半的建筑物像是战后的世界末日残骸，再次证明电影对导演来说可能像玩具一样的特性，而主角与故事只不过是几个手持的空壳。不够喜欢库什纳的剧本，但或许比原版明显具有更强烈的多元文化特性及其反思，这种反思将莎翁宿命论的浪漫主义复述带到了一个当代虚构美国，包含着并非单向度的种族主义批判（某些时刻可能让人想起斯派克·李）。在这个反乌托邦式的环境内，警察是无能的，美国梦是一个幻想，美国性更无从得知，几位主角几乎都不够完美，甚至是残暴与险恶的，因而这个版本还是带有比较强烈的怀疑主义。
有什麼比擅長人文場景的大師翻拍音樂歌舞經典還更令人期待？
是这个故事的男女主角本身就没魅力可言，还是说演员没选好？两版看下来，都是配角比主角有戏，两主角行尸走肉一样，就这样女主角还拿了金球奖？倒是这一版的美术和摄影颇美，America那一段更是比61版还要燃。
改编自1957年美国著名舞台剧，并且已有一部改编电影在1962年拿了奥斯卡奖。这一部由擅长大制作科幻的斯皮尔伯格执导，情节十分忠于原著，镜头和调度上都因为科技的进步有了更多东西可以玩，例如全片第一个长镜头，以及又和《黑天鹅》一样玩了一把360度镜子场景中隐藏摄影机的把戏。
音乐、舞蹈、摄影都没得说，光影魔法。教堂场景美翻了。小瑞秋唱功极佳。
明显感觉到好莱坞的审美导向在改变，我跟不上了。这女的长得和我似的，实在欣赏不来。
整体的的带入感比61年的版本好了很多，歌舞和剧情结合的也合理了很多，大部分的音乐做到了有源。不得不说斯皮尔伯格还是目前这个世界上最会拍电影的导演，很多段落的设计都有奇观的感觉，让这个老套的故事有了新的活力！
说啥好呢，拍摄手法很娴熟，就是我自个看不进去。
一个是剧作上对主人公的移情有问题，一个是百老汇音乐剧的形式（唱歌跳舞）与电影要求复原现实的特性（生活中的一举一动）有天然矛盾，损失了电影的代入感。这些盖过了视听语言上的光芒。
