The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 拍的真的好烂，还不如老版的故事有趣......强行了一波种族压迫但又没讲明白，我属实不能理解了。
本来看预告片的时候寻思这片会扑的很惨 结果没想到竟然这么用心 诚然恐怖成分削减不少 种族歧视这个点在这部里有些喧宾夺主 但不减他对视听的精雕细琢 和原版比各有千秋
剪纸与一副皮影戏的艺术感，是很棒的。至于故事，为什么要重启呢？没太大意义，娱乐娱乐得了！
密恐慎入。原来就是老的candyman的续篇。才发现那个街区就在我家附近还经常从边上经过。拍的挺一般的，氛围很有乔丹皮尔一罐的风格，但是还是有点弱。最大收货就是知道了一个芝加哥有故事的社区，而且那么近，下次可以去走走。

自我感觉还可以吧，早期同类电影看的太多，无感了。
悬念/惊悚/关爱的打造堪称失败...睡得很香
喬登皮爾再次用驚悚包裝種族議題，只不過這次講的是更為純粹的黑人血淚史，糖果人是過去被欺凌致死的黑人所產生的傳說形象，有點像黑人的超級英雄，但是更為正確的說法，是黑人的私刑者化身，這種對著鏡子說XXX就會發生什麼事的童謠設定，記得小時候好像也聽過XD，新導演尼亞達柯斯塔超前完成任務，鏡位考究，尤其是鏡像的呈現，執行的非常漂亮，《我們》玩影子，《糖果人》玩鏡子，即便不是喬登皮爾親自執導，尼亞達柯斯塔也拍出了喬登皮爾會拍出的樣子，步入資產化社會已久，自己都忘了自己的出生，即便自己身在異鄉，也仍需知道自己的出生，記得民族的血淚史，最後讓糖果人的傳說持續流傳下去吧，直到美國社會真正平等的一天，期待驚奇隊長2，這位新導演很有潛力
确实矫情，如病态的呻吟，除了几段情色片段有刺激感，全篇要表达的那种呐喊，层级差很多的无奈，和底层的孤单与挣扎都没有表现到位，观众无法产生共鸣
精致的室内装饰但没好好地利用这些空间优势，整体给我的感觉就是有足够的资金，但导演水平有限。

低级的黑人平权内涵根本没有看下去的欲望，期待的恐怖片都会不好看。
要恐怖不恐怖，要深刻不深刻，一篓子导演的私货，看个寂寞。
存在这么一系列明显的“社科电影”，它们在影片中大声朗读出议题，并标记了一整套符号体系以凸显其主张——但它们偏偏是叙事性的；于是，故事成为元素，能量在积聚前就被指向，议题在丰富前就已固定，观众并不感受、并不观看，而仅是阅读。本片对中产社区生活的精致指向如同其所批判的内容一样虚伪：这只不过是另一立场的宣言，以及名为痛苦的痛苦
这哪是隐喻，完全是把种族问题赤裸裸的摆到桌面上，抛开政治不谈作为恐怖片是蛮失败的~5.0

题材与模式较为老套，旧瓶装新酒。但其美学艺术体现，运镜，构图，色彩光影处理等等完美弥补了这一缺憾，尤其几处镜像处理可圈可点，个人认为值得四星。
